2. Scope
These terms govern your use of techdrive.tv and the TechDrive Zürich newsletter. By using this website or subscribing to the newsletter you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
3. What TechDrive Zürich is
TechDrive Zürich is an independent, English-language interview series and podcast. Episodes are filmed in a car with guests from the Swiss and European technology ecosystem and published on this website and on third-party platforms including YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Access to this website and to the newsletter is free of charge. We do not currently sell products or services through this website.
4. Editorial independence and no professional advice
Episodes and articles are journalistic and editorial in nature. Guests speak for themselves; their views are their own and do not represent those of the operator, of their employers, or of TechDrive Zürich.
Nothing on this website constitutes legal, tax, financial, investment or professional advice, and nothing here should be relied on as such. Discussion of funding, company formation, regulation or employment is general commentary and not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Any decision you take on the basis of this content is your own responsibility.
5. Acceptable use
You may read, share and link to this website freely. You may not:
- use the site in a way that breaks any applicable law
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or its databases
- scrape, copy or republish substantial parts of the content for commercial purposes without written permission
- misrepresent your identity when subscribing, or subscribe an email address you do not control
Linking to episode pages, quoting with attribution, and embedding the YouTube videos are all expressly welcome.
6. Intellectual property
The TechDrive Zürich name, logo, branding, episode artwork, written editorial content and show structure are owned by the operator or used under licence. Episode recordings are published under the terms of the platforms that host them.
Short quotations with clear attribution and a link back to techdrive.tv are permitted. Reproduction of full episodes, transcripts or articles requires prior written permission.
Third-party names, logos and trade marks appearing on this site — including those of guests' organisations — remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.
Guests retain all rights in their own statements and consent to their participation being published as part of the series.
7. Third-party platforms and links
This website links to and embeds content from third-party services, including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Castbox, Pocket Casts, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and WhatsApp.
We do not control these services and are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their handling of your data. When you follow a link or interact with an embed, that provider's own terms and privacy policy apply.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site or the newsletter at any time without notice.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of this website, from reliance on its content, or from the unavailability of the site.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury, for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Swiss law or under mandatory law in your country of residence.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The ordinary courts of Zürich, Switzerland have exclusive jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this choice of law and jurisdiction does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version published on this page at the time you use the site is the one that applies. Material changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be communicated by email.
12. Controller
The controller responsible for personal data processed through this website is Dr. Justinas Mišeikis, Oerlikon, Zürich, Switzerland (UID CHE-433.916.847), contactable at zurich@techdrive.tv.
This policy applies to processing under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, as revised) and, where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to visitors in the European Economic Area, under the GDPR.
13. What we collect and why
Newsletter subscription
When you subscribe we store: your email address, the source of the subscription, the date and time you subscribed, and whether you opted in to receive partner offers.
- Purpose: to send you notifications about new episodes, and — only if you separately ticked the box — offers from selected partners.
- Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); FADP Art. 6). You may withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
- The partner-offers opt-in is separate and optional. Leaving it unticked has no effect on your newsletter subscription.
Server and hosting logs
Our hosting provider records technical data automatically when you visit, including your IP address, browser type and version, the pages requested, referring page, and the date and time of the request.
- Purpose: delivering the site, security, diagnosing faults and preventing abuse.
- Legal basis: legitimate interests in operating a secure and functioning website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Analytics
We use Metricool to understand how the site is used — for example which episodes are read and which countries visitors come from. Metricool sets a cookie in your browser and processes usage data in pseudonymised form. We do not use analytics data to identify individual visitors.
- Purpose: measuring reach and improving the content.
- Legal basis: legitimate interests in understanding audience reach (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You can prevent this processing by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings, or by using your browser's tracking protection.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data. We do not collect payment data through this website.
16. International transfers
Some of these providers process data outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards — the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses with the Swiss addendum recognised by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, the EU–US and Swiss–US Data Privacy Frameworks where the recipient is certified, or an adequacy decision.
17. How long we keep data
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, plus a short period to record that the request was honoured.
- Server logs: kept only as long as needed for security and diagnostics, normally no more than a few months.
- Analytics data: retained according to Metricool's own retention periods.
18. Your rights
Under Swiss and, where applicable, EU data protection law you have the right to:
- request access to the personal data we hold about you
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data deleted
- restrict or object to processing
- receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- withdraw consent at any time, including by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email
To exercise any of these rights, email zurich@techdrive.tv. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity where necessary.
If you believe your data has been handled improperly you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority:
- In Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC / EDÖB), Bern
- In the EEA: the data protection authority of your country of residence or workplace
19. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on the subscriber database and row-level security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
20. Children
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
21. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our processing or in the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Material changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be notified by email.
